Preparing for your Training
Required Reading & Materials
The following books are required for the Art Of Yoga 200 Hour Teacher Training. With the exception of the Yandara Asana Manual, all books are available on Amazon. When available, you may wish to purchase pre-owned copies of these books. The price list is an estimate and does not guarantee the price you may find on Amazon. Information about the Yandara Asana Manual is listed below.
Yoga Anatomy, Second Edition by Leslie Kaminoff and Amy Matthews $16.20
Yoga Mind, Body & Spirit, A Return to Wholeness by Donna Farhi $13.19
Teaching Yoga by Donna Farhi $13.92
The Yandara Asana Manual is available by download for $25. Please print the manual out and bring with you to training each day. I would suggest having the manual hole-punched and place in a 3-ring binder or if you prefer, Office Depot printed and bound a copy for me at the cost of $35. The asana manual is the most expensive of the books; however this a book that you will use everyday during training and will continue to use long after training.
Daily Yoga Practice and Meditation
In terms of physical preparation, we suggest that you commit to a minimum of one hour of yoga asana practice per day, including a sun salutation series. Optimally, 3 or 4 of those days would be in a studio class taught by a registered yoga instructor. The remaining 3- 4 days could be your personal home practice. Remember to practice with ahimsa (non-violence) by honoring your own body and limitations. If you have a personal meditation practice, please continue it. If you do not have a personal meditation practice, Art Of Yoga offers several opportunities to learn and practice meditation; some of them are free. Please see our schedule for meditation opportunities. The cost of your training will include unlimited yoga during the duration of the training and we highly recommend that you attend at least 3 different types of classes per week to enhance your learning and your practice.
